Our young adult clients come from various backgrounds and settings, including their homes, therapeutic wilderness programs, mental health treatment programs, substance use treatment programs, and therapeutic and traditional boarding school settings. Families often collaborate with educational consultants, psychologists, psychiatrists, occupational therapists, and program staff. It is important to note that while we respect these collaborations, we do not require clients to work with an educational consultant. At Rubedo, we specialize in supporting stable and independent young adults who are at a pivotal point in their lives. These individuals are typically transitioning from their homes or intensive treatment programs, seeking a balance between independence while still needing some professional guidance. Our independent living program is a valuable option during this critical phase. Our team provides the necessary support and structure for young adults not yet fully prepared to embrace complete independence. If you’re seeking some basic guidelines on determining appropriate fit, please refer to our Client Profile page. It’s important to note that we retain the discretion to decline enrollment for any applicant deemed incompatible with the program. Considering the distinctive nature of each application, certain steps detailed below might not be applicable. Below is a description of the steps involved in the application process for our program for neurodivergent young adults. - 1\. - 2\. - 3\. - 4\. - 5\. - 6\. 1\. Initial Evaluation ### Referring Phone Call After contacting our admissions team, we will reach out through email, phone, or the online form. This initial interaction typically serves as the primary step in the application process. During this conversation, a Rubedo admissions team member engages with the referring party, typically a parent, mental health provider, or placement consultant, to conduct a thorough assessment regarding the applicant’s compatibility with our program. Thorough Assessment ### Review of Supporting Materials Our clinical team reviews pertinent psychological evaluations, psychiatric evaluations, and other paperwork provided to us in support of an individual’s application to the program. 3\. Family Engagement ### Phone Call with Caregiver or Parent Following the comprehensive documentation review, a phone call or Zoom meeting between a Rubedo admissions team member and an applicant’s parents and/or caregiver is completed. 4\. Treatment Team Discussion ### Phone Call with Provider A phone call between a Rubedo admissions team member and a recent treatment provider for the applicant, usually a therapist or psychiatrist is completed. 5\. Conversation with the potential young adult client ### Phone Call with Applicant A phone call between a Rubedo admissions team member and the potential client themselves is completed. 6\. Visit our young adult program! ### Program Tour We schedule a program tour for a client and/or their sponsoring family members if interested. The program cost is $18,500 a month and our fees cover all costs related to setting up the program for a new client. While Rubedo is not in-network with insurance providers, families can partner with Bridgeway Billing to receive monthly superbills. These document the clinical services rendered that month, and can be submitted by Rubedo families for out-of-network reimbursement. Please note that applying to an open bed in the program does not guarantee that the bed will be available if you decide to enroll. We accept ongoing applications for open beds until those spaces are filled. For this reason, we will work as expeditiously as we can on our end to complete your application. We recommend that you also work expeditiously through all the necessary steps you will need to finalize a decision to enroll. ## Getting to Rubedo Rubedo is located at 148 State St, Portland, Maine.
